🌟 President L. Joy Williams Lays Out Her Vision

At our 2nd Quarterly Meeting, President L. Joy Williams shared a renewed vision for the NAACP New York State Conference—focused on modernizing our tools, deepening support for local branches, and driving unified action across the state.

“We are building stronger infrastructure, activating new committee leadership, and ensuring that every branch has access to the resources they need to grow and serve. From new tech to new training opportunities, this is a moment for elevation.”

This was also our first quarterly meeting without our beloved mother, fighter, and leader, Dr. Hazel N. Dukes. We honored her memory with heartfelt reflections and a candle-lighting ceremony.

Ways we’re continuing to honor her legacy:

  • Commemorative reflections from across the Conference

  • A fellowship to help curate a museum exhibit

  • Additional memorial and legacy-building efforts
